Three Things

Today I'm sharing three things about everyone in the family. Just little things that I don't want to forget.

Dancing Shoes
Charlee Jo loves to dance. We spend a lot of time having impromptu dance parties. I hope she's always this carefree. She has a special pair of "dancing shoes" although I have no idea where she came up with that. When she's dancing, she needs her dancing shoes.

Favorite
Mom is still her favorite but the second person on that list is Brooke. Brooke is her number one person on the invitation list for her upcoming birthday and someone she asks about often. Did I mention that Brooke is 10 years older than Charlee Jo?! The sweetest!

Snowmobiling
We've recently taken up snowmobiling as a family and sister loves it. It may be the only time she prefers her Dad over her mom. He goes fast and jumps so she wants nothing to do with me while we're out on the mountain.

Valentine
Peyton has asked Travis for over a month to take him to the store to buy me flowers for Valentine's Day. He never forgot and it was the cutest thing. He was beyond excited to surprise me!

Glasses
Peyton got his glasses in December and we were concerned with how he would do keeping them on and remembering them. He has done amazing. He takes such great care of them and he never fights us to wear them although we know he doesn't love having them.

Speech
Peyton has been in speech for a few months and last week he "graduated" from speech. He has improved so much in such a short amount of time. He is constantly stopping and asking how to say a word or self correcting. Our speech therapist has been amazing!

Brownies
Colson loves baking brownies. Anytime we have people over or are going somewhere, he asks to make brownies. I love that he enjoys it, I just wish he enjoyed cleaning up the mess just as much!

Baseball
Colson starts baseball this weekend and we're all so excited! Colson has said that baseball is his favorite sport to play and it's my favorite to watch.

History Club
Colson was signed up for history club for an after school club and fell in love. He has a guy teacher, which he thinks is the greatest thing ever. He comes home talking about what they learned that week and said he wishes it was everyday and not just once a week.

Snowmobiler
I never in my life thought I'd own a snowmobile. I'm 32, and own a snowmobile. Travis searched for the perfect sled for me and it showed up at our house a couple weeks ago. The previous owner put a custom wrap on it and we all laugh about how terrible it looks. We went for the first time a couple weeks ago and had the best time. I think I'm really going to enjoy it!

Miles
We shockingly got a Siamese mix cat and his name is Miles. Travis named him after the Denver Broncos mascot, very fitting for our family. He stays under our bed all day until the kids go to bed then he comes out and won't leave us alone. He stays up most of the night and is extremely loud but we're getting used to having a furry friend around!

Coach Travis
I mentioned earlier that baseball starts this weekend and Travis is coaching. I love that he is dedicated to our kids. He helped coach last year and really enjoyed it so I'm excited for this season!

3 Things: Back to School Edition

It's the first day of school for Colson! I can't believe he's in third grade. It's going to be such a great year. Here are three things from each of us....

-New School-
This year Colson is attending a different school. It is still in our district, but he's attending the one I student taught at and I'm so excited! We asked him if he wanted to and he was all for it because he'll make friends at this school and his old school so when they all come together for middle school, he'll know everyone. He's social like his Mama and I'm so proud of him for that! I love that he isn't afraid of trying something new and making friends.

-Tackle Football-
This is Colson's first year of playing tackle football. So far he really enjoys it. He has so much to learn but he's doing amazing.

-Nasa-
The school he's attending this year has a Nasa program and he's so excited. They have a Nasa club that you have to apply for but all the students can participate in the science far and projects. He is so excited to do more science this year!

-His Shell-
Peyton is coming out of his shell. He is starting to be goofy and relax more while we're out. I love watching him get more comfortable with himself. He has always been more reserved and aware of who is around him. Lately, I've noticed that he doesn't care as much if people see him do silly things.

-JoJo-
I have no idea where it came from but he's started calling Grandma Jo, JoJo and insists that he needs alone time with her. They still share such a special bond and it makes me happy that she can take him and love on him when he needs it.

-Pre-K-
This year Peyton is going to school four days a week for half days. Last year he only went twice a week so it's a big adjustment. I'm sure he's going to do great! Part of him coming out of his shell, when he sees his teachers around town, he always gets excited and says hi. He used to shy away.

-Home-
Sister is stuck at home with Mom for another year. Little miss is attached at the hip with me so the one on one time with each other will be good for her. She will have four days a week for a few hours that we will get to spend together.

-I do it-
Anytime anyone tries to help she says, "I do it." Little miss independent. It's cute and I try my very best to be patient with her but oh.my.word.....

-Potty-
When Charlee turned two, she decided she was going to start using the potty. She still has accidents occasionally and wears a pull up at night but for the most part, she does great. Potty training isn't my favorite so to have her basically decide on her own it was time was so nice.

-Travel-

This summer has been full of traveling and as much as I've loved it, we're both ready to stay home. I never imagined I would say that....We have seen eight baseball games since April, in two different cities. I'm so thankful we both love watching sports.

-Substitute Teaching-

This school year I'm going to sub for both schools that the boys are at. I love being involved in the schools and it's a great way to get to know the staff and their friends! I love subbing and it's a great way to keep my feet "wet" until I decide to teach full time.

-Favorite Season-

Back to school is the start of my favorite season! I love the cooler mornings, all the activities, and the pumpkin spice! I can't wait to get into our fall routine!

Three Things

COLSON

-Shopping-
On Mondays, I have to shop for the store and I do our grocery shopping then too. I take the littles to the babysitter but Colson thinks he’s too old so he goes with me. Most of the time he’s great help but regardless, I love having the one on one time with him. It’s an all day thing, and one we both look forward too!

-Chores-
This summer we’ve been completing a new chore system and he can’t have any technology until all his chores are done. I love it, but he hates it! It has solved so many problems and I feel like he does a great job of making sure everything is done early so when it’s time for “free time” he can watch a show!

-Clean Room-
Last week we cleaned his room and went through EVERYTHING! It was such a big job but needed to be done. We went through all of his clothes in preparation for school clothes and purged toys. His Papa and I made a bet on how long he can keep his room spotless and so far, he’s doing really well. I told him if he keeps it clean I’ll pay him $20 when school starts, he’s determined!

CHARLEE JO

-FaceTime-
Charlee loooooves to FaceTime. She asks to call Papa or JoJo almost daily. When she’s upset, she especially likes to call because she knows they’ll feel bad for her. She likes to hold the phone and be in charge so most of the time whoever she’s taking to gets to look at the ceiling for most of the call.

-Terrible Twos-
Girl can throw a fit. She will cry and be upset for no apparent reason. But she can snap out of it so quick, you’d never know she was just upset. No one understands, and Colson said it perfectly the other night when I asked her what she wanted…”she has no idea what she wants!” 😂

-Brothers-
Charlee and Colson have a wonderful relationship. Charlee is so sweet to him and will go up and give him kisses for no reason. She adores Colson. Peyton on the other hand, she is a stinker too. She was go up and wack him while he’s minding his own business. She always wants whatever he has and will do whatever she can to get her way.

PEYTON

-Dad’s boy-
Peyton is so sweet. When he thinks I’m not paying attention, he’ll whisper to his Dad that he loves him or tell him that he’s his favorite. He never does this to me. He genuinely loves his dad so much. I think it’s so sweet that they have such a great relationship and I know that Travis loves it.

-Roller Coaster-
When we went to Silverwood, Peyton was barely tall enough to ride the roller coasters. There were a couple that he couldn’t go on but really wanted to. I was worried he might not like them. The boy LOVED them! He wanted to go on the ones that went upside down and I’m so thankful he wasn’t tall enough because 😬! He would still be riding them if he could!

-Best Friend-
Peyton has never shown a big interest in making friends. He’s very content playing with himself and hanging out with his Dad. However, his best friend is Paul. Paul is an older gentleman that spends his free time at a coffee shop in town. He recently had a medical scare and when we told Peyton he was crushed! He was so worried about him. Thankfully, Paul is much better and Peyton couldn’t be happier. He requested that we have Paul over for dinner so he can see him!

TRAVIS AND I

-Six Years-
We celebrated six years of marriage on the 8th of July. We spent the day in the car with the kids and dinner with nine! It’s been a really great six years!

-Dexter-
Travis loves Dexter but I’ve never seen it. I agreed to watch the series with him so we’re going to start! It’s got a lid of blood for me…

-Trips-
We were supposed to go to Hawaii for our anniversary but canceled due to Covid restrictions. Instead we’ve planned several little trips and I love always having something to look forward to but I feel like we’re constantly on the go.

Three Things

Today I’m sharing three things about each of the kiddos. They all three have very different personalities and I love little quirks about each of them so much.

Colson

Colson loves to read. He has a friend at school that race to finish books and I can believe how great of a reader he is. He’s currently reading The Last Kids on Earth series.

He is working so hard to get on the “Nifty Fifty” math board at school. If he gets 100% on his math he makes it and the last test he missed 1! I know he’s going to do it. He’s learning how to tell time and he’s constantly quizzing me on time.

He recently got his own room and he loves having his own space. He displays all of his Legos and drawings. I love going into his room and seeing how he’s making it his own!

Peyton

Dad is still Peyton’s favorite person ever. He asks to stop and see Dad at work anytime we drive past. He idolizes him and it’s the cutest thing.

He’s sharing a room with his sister and doesn’t love it but loves having all of the toys! He makes the best food with the toy kitchen! I’m hoping this helps them get along better.

He hates bedtime. Peyton will do anything to avoid going to bed and when it’s time he cries. He also wakes up early like 6:00 early!!! We’re thankful it stays dark until later because most of the time he’ll lay in bed until he sees light or hears someone!

Charlee Jo

Sassy. She has started to carry around a purse full of whatever will fit. She also loves to wear her bracelet and necklace.

Baby dolls. Charlee loves her babies. She’s always taking care of them. She brings them to us to feed and hold too. I always tell her she’s such a good Mama and she shakes her head yes. So cute!

Head shaker. She’s starting to talk more but she shakes her head for everything. When we ask her something she will shake her head to answer, there’s no mistake about how she feels about things.

Happy Tuesday, friends!

Three Things

COLSON

Colson is so happy to be back in school. He loves being with his friends, riding the bus, and having routine. I love getting him off the bus and listening to all of his stories from the day. He’s hopeful that he can continue to go in person.

He loves to build things. He really enjoys LEGOS. He can sit and build things for hours. His creativity is impressive!

Harry Potter. He’s been asking me to let him read Harry Potter for several months and I finally got my hands on the books so we’re reading the first book in the series together before bed. He’s so excited!

PEYTON

Favorite. He always tells Travis and I that we’re both his favorite. He’s very sensitive and doesn’t want to hurt our feelings. However, when he knows I can’t hear, he tells Travis, “just you’re my favorite Dad”! He definitely idolizes his Dad and I’m perfectly okay with that.

Coffee. Peyton’s favorite thing to do in the morning is go get coffee. {he drinks milk} He also loves to help make coffee at home and will drink it if I’m not paying attention. He really does like coffee! Smart boy!

Jo’s house. He tried to convince me that I should take him to Jo’s house everyday after Colson catches the bus. He was able to go to Jo’s by himself once last week and you would have thought he won the lottery!

CHARLEE JO

Cheese. Anytime I pull out my phone to take a picture she squishes up her face and makes the best cheese face! She’s really becoming quite photogenic!

No.  This girl can throw a FIT. If you ever want to see it, just tell her no. Her bottom lip comes out and giant tears flow. Every. Single. Time!
{don’t worry, she hears no a lot}

Kisses. When we tell her to give us a kiss she puts her forehead on our lips. She doesn’t kiss back which is perfectly okay with us but also so funny. She does it with her brothers, Travis and I, and grandparents! We have no idea where she learned it.

TRAVIS AND I

Bowling. Travis was on a bowling team for years up until a couple years ago. Well, he was asked to join a team and this week he again! I’m excited for him to be doing something fun for himself. He doesn’t do that enough.

Substitute teacher. I wasn’t going to sub again this year but last minute I decided to and I’m so glad I did! I subbed last week in my favorite grade with my favorite group of teachers and it made me remember why I love doing it!

Vacation. We had three vacations canceled due to Covid this year and we’re so sad about it. Travis and I love to travel together. This week last year we were on a cruise to Alaska. Two years ago this week we were in Denver. This year...we’re home. I can’t wait to travel again, together!

Happy Wednesday, friends!

Three Things Right Now

-One-

Colson is really into melty beads right now. His friend gave him several after a sleepover and then he bought some with leftover birthday money he had. They keep Colson busy and I love to see what he creates. The only down side is all the ironing I have to do! ;)

-Two-

Colson loves reading every night and lately he's fallen in love with The Magic Treehouse series. His Great Grandma sent him some birthday money and he asked me if he could spend it at the book fair at school! I love that he loves to read. I took him to Barns and Noble last weekend and he couldn't believe all the books in the series. He's so excited to read his new books so we can go back and get more. I hope he always enjoys reading.

-Three-

While I was typing this he came in and asked me what I was doing. When I told him, he said, "Make sure you tell everyone that I love my family more than melty beads and books." He is so sweet. Although, he loves his family he has such a tender heart. He recently asked me if I was still going to have time for him when the baby comes. Tears!!! He loves to be around me and do things with me. He loves his brother although he picks on him. He thinks his Dad hung the moon. Colson loves his family. It doesn't just end with the three of us, he loves everyone we call family! This is such an awesome quality about him!

-Four-

A bonus since he added one! Colson is doing so good in school! He fights me on practicing his sight words but it's paid off because he knows them all and got a great report at parent teacher conferences last week. We have flashcards that we practice everyday!

-One-

This kid never lies when he says his favorite is Travis. He idolizes his Dad. As soon as he walks in the door, he follows him around. Whenever Travis leaves to go somewhere, he begs to go and has a melt-down if he has to stay with Mom. I love watching their bond grow stronger. I have no doubt that these two will have an unbreakable bond the older his gets.

-Two-

Peyton loves hot dogs! If I want to make his day, I just need to feed him a hot dog. For his birthday dinner we had hot dogs. He will eat two and as much as I can't stand hot dogs, I love how easy they are! I've also caught him on several occasions sneaking them from the fridge and eating them cold!

-Three-

Peyton LOOOOVES Paw Patrol. He constantly asks to watch Chase. It may get annoying since we can all basically recite every episode, but I love snuggling up with him to watch. It also gives me a few minutes here and there to finish something up or take a shower!

-One-

Travis is snowmobiling every weekend recently and as much as the kids and I miss having him home, I know he's having so much fun. I love that he has something to do that he loves! He recently got a new sled and I'm happy that he gets to go and enjoy it!

-Two-

Single Dad life. Recently, I started student teaching and he's had to do things that normally I took care of. He gets Colson on and off the bus, feeds him breakfast on school days, and deals with daily life stuff. I was also really sick a couple weeks ago and he took care of all of us. Like cleaned up the house, cooked dinners, and took on every single responsibility while I laid in bed. I couldn't imagine not having him around. He truly is my better half.

-Three-

I'm tired. For the first time ever, I'm experiencing mom tired and teacher tired! It's a whole other level of tired and it's real. I'm still trying to adjust to our schedule of me student teaching. This week, I'm fully teaching so as much as I LOVE it, it's a lot! I'm sure being pregnant isn't helping. It would help if I could be caffeinated but I haven't been able to drink much caffeine.

Happy Thursday, friends! What are three things that have been going on with you lately?

Three Things

I thought I’d share three quick things about each of the boys today. They are both growing and changing daily and there are so many little things about their personalities right now that I don’t want to forget.

EARLY RISER
I was hoping he’d sleep more the older he got but that hasn’t been the case. He is up by 7 everyday and immediately wants to snuggle and watch a movie. If I’m already up, he’ll sit in my closet and talk with me while I’m getting ready.

GIRLFRIEND
Travis and I told him that he couldn’t have a girlfriend until he was older and he burst into tears. He told us he already had two! After talking, and realizing that to him girlfriend is a girl that’s his friend, we agreed to him having his girlfriends.

Dad’s Boy
Lately Colson has been all about his Dad. There has been a couple days that Colson has slept in until after Travis leaves for work and Colson gets so upset. He asks Travis to please wait for him to wake up before leaving for work. He doesn’t want to miss telling him goodbye. Travis had been working with him, teaching him t-ball and Colson loves the time with his Dad. Colson’s favorite activity to do with Travis right now is golf. We got Colson a set of clubs this week, but Travis took him out over the weekend and used his old clubs. Colson was so excited to go golfing with his Dad!

SLEEPLESS NIGHTS
I know that I’m going to miss having a baby in the house so I try my best not to complain about sleepless nights, but it’s HARD. Peyton won’t sleep all night at home. We get up with him at least once a night, if not twice, or more! However, when he goes to Grandma Jo and Papa Kim’s, he sleeps all night. It’s a running joke. He ALWAYS sleeps all night at their house.

BYE-BYE
We keep all of the boy’s shoes in the mudroom and Peyton will go find his shoes, try and put them on and say bye-bye over and over. If I can’t find him, more than likely he’s in the mudroom trying to go bye-bye.

ROUGH HOUSING
He’s watched his Dad and brother rough house so anytime someone is laying on the floor, Peyton will “tackle” them. He loves to get his Dad and thinks he’s the greatest whenever Travis says, “Oh, you got me!” Before long, Peyton will be big enough to really get him and Travis will have to fight off two boys jumping all over him!

Just for fun:

GRASS
We had grass planted a couple weeks ago and it’s been the longest wait. Yesterday Travis sent me a text telling me when had grass. Travis is so excited!!! He loves having a beautiful yard and he does such a great job taking care of it. He can’t wait to mow it for the first time!

PASSIONATE
Last year we started watching the Colorado Rockies. I’ve always loved watching baseball but I don’t keep up with the players, I just like watching the game. Well, Travis can tell you the stats on every player on the team. I think he might even know their hometown and eye color! Kidding, but what I’m saying is, he knows as much as he can find out about the team. When he gets into something he goes all in. He’s the most passionate person I know. He’s like this in our marriage, with our kids, and anything else he likes or is involved in. He’s all in.

COACH TRAVIS
Colson starts t-ball this month and Travis has signed up to coach. He’s going to be excellent! He’s amazing with kids, not just his own. He loves baseball and he’s so excited to coach his son!

TEA
I’ve become obsessed with tea. I’ve always been a coffee drinker. I drank it all day long, hot or iced. Over the last month, I’ve been drinking tea. Even when I go to Starbucks, I order tea. I’ve been drinking it so much that I bought a tea kettle!

GILMORE GIRLS
I started watching Gilmore Girls the other day while folding laundry and I’m obsessed! I have all the dvds and I’ve watched them through once, but it’s been forever ago. The episodes are long and Travis isn’t interested so it will take me years, but I started with episode one and I’m going to watch them through!

Happy Tuesday, friends!
