One in a Melon

We celebrated our favorite one year old in May with a One in a Melon themed party!

I had so much fun putting together a summer birthday party. While I was still pregnant with Charlee Jo, I was strolling through TJ Maxx and found a couple of watermelon platters and a watermelon dress and the theme for her first birthday came to be. Crazy, I know!

The focal point of the party was the dessert bar. My friend made me this awesome bar as a gift and I used it to display the cake, cookies, and watermelon candy. I picked up some balloons from Zurchers and made this balloon arch to really make it stand out! However, just before the party started the wind picked up and we had to take the arch down....

Sister had her very own smash cake and then I made a tiered cake for the guests. This was my first tiered cake so it wasn't perfect, but it tasted good.

I ordered cookies from our favorite local cookie shop, One Haute Cookies, and they looked AMAZING. I'm so pleased with how they turned out and they tasted yummy too! I also had watermelon flavored candies that I picked up.

Her first birthday sign is an old chalkboard that has been repainted a dozen times. I did my best to make it match her invitations for the party.

I hung pictures up from her cake smash pictures above the food table!

We served burgers and hot dogs with all the fixings. Nothing says a summer party like barbecue and watermelon! Corn salad, and of course chips!

A year of Charlee Jo....

My mom made floral arrangements in watermelons for the tables.

We had pictures from her first year displayed...

I had some amazing helpers for my highchair sign!

She wasn't sure what to think about an entire cake being placed in front of her...

Dad showed her how to do it.....

We invited family up to celebrate since it was during the pandemic + a couple friends. We kept it small.

But the kids had a great time....

And we're so glad everyone could make it to celebrate our girl!

A quick bath and outfit change...and time for presents!

It was fun to see her get excited over baby dolls! :)

We loved celebrating our girl!

Charlee Jo had some pictures taken before her birthday and here are some favorites...

Happy Wednesday, friends!
