Back to School: The Boys

We're three days into the new school year. Peyton and Colson are both in elementary school this year. Peyton is in kindergarten and Colson is in forth grade. They both have amazing teachers and friends in their classes. We're so excited for this school year!

Last week, on Thursday, we headed to the school to meet the boys' teachers.

We took them a sweet little treat and a survey so we can spoil them throughout the year. It's an easy way and most only cost about $5. I love to drop off a Sonic drink on Wednesday before all their meets or a coffee on Friday morning.

The boys were so excited to meet their teachers and see if they had any friends in their class!

I love that there is a map of the United States on the playground! The kids loved it too!

On Sunday, I helped with PTO to add a little color to the front of the school for all the kids when they arrived for the first day. This was the first time I helped with this and I had so much fun!

Sunday night we had our annual back to school dinner. The boys picked out the menu and I added some decorations to the table. This is one of my very favorite traditions that we do. We always talk about what we're most excited about and things that we might be a little nervous about.

It seems that spaghetti is the most popular dinner. We don't have it very often so they always seem to choose it when given the opportunity.

Most of the items, I just reuse year after year. This chalkboard just gets pulled out of the back to school tote and I never redo it! The apples are faux and all the supplies are used just for dinner and then I put them back in the tote!

I found cupcake liners at TJ MAXX this year and the cutest letter sprinkles at Michael's so I made cupcakes this year in addition too.....

Our favorite cookies!

Charlee Jo is headed to school next month. It's so crazy to think that all three kids will be in a form of school this year. I can't wait to volunteer and get really involved in their school!

Lunch for Colson...

And back to school pictures! I turned a blind eye to his choice of outfit because it was clean and he loved it! :)

This year he got a new backpack!
(we only buy backpacks every two years)

Both of my boys!

Peyton's first day of kindergarten and his first day at the elementary school!

Peyton didn't have to go to school until afternoon, due to kindergarten orientation so Colson talked me into riding the bus. I was sad that he didn't want his mom to drop him off but also very excited that he's confident enough to hop on the bus!

So walking to the bus stop....

And off he goes...

After lunch, Peyton and I went to kindergarten orientation. He was so excited to be heading in!

We saw Papa as soon as we got there! I love that my dad is at the school and can check in on  the boys and just be there for a hug or high five!

Big guy, ready for school!

When Colson got off the bus, he was so excited to share all about his day. Instead of going to get ice cream, he asked to make his own from home! Ice cream and learning all about his first day in 4th grade. I'm so glad he had the best first day!

On Tuesday, it was officially Peyton's first full day. He wanted to ride the bus but at the last minute asked if I would take him and pick him up so I did! He walked right up and headed in.

Day two didn't look much different....excited to head for the bus!

And this one asked me to drop him off! He went right in and had a great day!

As soon as I picked him up, he asked to go see his Dad. So we made a stop so he could see Dad before heading for our traditional Roe Ann's ice cream!

So glad the boys' year has started off so great!

I'm so happy that both of my boys are excited for school and it's been an easy transition. I know that isn't always the case. For our family, we really make school a big deal and an exciting adventure!
