Health Journey Favorites

 Happy Thursday, friends.

This year I have started a serious health journey. I have never been overweight and I've always been somewhat active. But, I'm getting older, added some pounds, and get tired quicker than ever before. I needed to take my health seriously. So here's what I'm doing and some of my favorite things!

Treadmill: I don't have a treadmill at home but I use a treadmill daily at the gym. If I were to get one, I like this one. I walk at an incline of 12 and a 4 speed and this fits the bill without being too big.

OnCloud: My favorite shoes to workout in and walk in! I have had them for about six months and they are the most comfortable shoes I've ever worked out in. I used to work out in Nike but once I tried these, I don't know if I will ever go back!

Lululemon: I know these are expensive but they are my favorite! I don't spend a lot for tops but I love bottoms that I don't have to continue to pull up. I love that they all pass the squat test. They are hands down, my favorite leggings! I wear them year round because I don't love wearing shorts to work out.

Watch: I love tracking my workouts and my steps. I aim for 10,000 steps a day and this makes it so easy to track! I also use the fitness app and share with friends. It's such a great motivator!

AirPods: Usually I work out with friends or a trainer but when I'm walking or working out alone, I love listening to a book or music. It takes my mind off working out and the time passes quicker!

Weighted Vest: I added a 12 pound vest to my walks along with chores around the house. I can tell it making a difference and I'm glad I decided to add it in.

Here are a few things that I found important to make this journey work for me.

Convenience: I work out at a gym that is around the corner from my house. It makes it so easy to head over and walk 30 minutes or do a quick workout.

Trainer: I decided in December that I needed to start working out with a trainer two days a week. She pushes me harder than I push myself. She can help me focus on certain muscles and areas. Missy has been amazing in challenging myself.

Friends: I workout with two friends in the morning. It helps to know I will walk into the gym and there will be someone to do the workout together.

I also share my fitness app with friends so that it motivates me on days that I feel less motivated. It's fun to cheer each other on!

Walking buddy is another person I'm thankful for. Trying to get 10,000 steps a day is a challenge for me so  having someone to go walk a few miles helps get me those steps. Also, having a dog that enjoys going for walks is motivation in itself.

I hope this encourages you to do something good for your body!

  1. I love how intentional and balanced this approach feels — not extreme, just consistent and sustainable. The incline treadmill routine sounds no joke, and adding a weighted vest on top of that? You are serious in the best way! I also appreciate how much you emphasized community — trainers, friends, walking buddies — because that really is what makes healthy habits stick long term. It’s inspiring to see someone prioritize strength and energy as they get older instead of just accepting feeling tired. This definitely motivates me to step up my own routine — even if I’m not quite ready for a 12-pound vest yet!
